Is becoming a psychiatrist worth it?

Psychiatrists do not usually spend that much time with people. They see clients infrequently, and often for only a few minutes to a half hour, but it can pay well. At the same time, you have to decide who you want to help. You should think about who you want to work with. If you work with middle cl and wealthy people, you can make a very good living as a psychologist. However, if you want to work with the down and out, the people who have been victims of trauma and abuse, chances are you will earn less as a psychologist. If you're in it just for the money, either become a psychiatrist (who will work closely with therapists) or become a psychologist for wealthier people.
