Now that the Superbowl is over...Did Polamalu deserve defensive player of the year?

His level of play dropped dramatically after the Achilles injury to the point where he was not the same player in the last few games of the regular season and the playoffs/Super Bowl. Based on being out or marginally effective for 5 games in the regular season, I say he did NOT deserve the award.
